Proceedings of the 53rd District level Research – Extension Linkage Meeting
The 53rd District Level research – Extension linkage meeting was held on 28-07-2026 at KVK Sundargarh-I Conference hall under the Chairmanship of Sri Dillip Kumar Mishra, CDAO, Sundargarh.
The meeting was started at 10.30 am with warm welcome of esteemed members and invitees by Dr. Manoj Kumar Jena, Scientist (Soil Sc.), KVK Sundargarh-I. All the members heartily welcomed newly joined CDAO, Sri Dilip Kumar Mishra to the meeting.
At the outset Dr. Laxmipriya Pradhan, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Sundargarh-I briefed about the agenda and presented the action taken report of the previous meeting, various convergence activities undertaken and action plan of KVK for the year 2026-27. She requested all the heads of the line departments to nominate trainees for the forth coming OMBADC sponsored capacity building trainees in their respective fields.
Sr. Scientist, RRTTSS, Kirei Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Biswasi presented the current weather scenario of the district and reported that there was 67% deficit of rainfall during June and 49.3% excess during July-2026 and forecasted rainfall for coming 2-3 days due to present low pressure.
CDAO, Sundargarh Sri Dillip Kumar Mishra informed that out of 1,98,000 ha targeted Kharif paddy area till now 86,800 ha area has been covered (about 50%) under broadcasting and transplanting. With regard to rainfall and paddy transplanting no problem occurred so far. He suggested for conducting a trial on Sugar extraction from Maize stalks (both yellow and sweet corn) in Mukhya Mantri Maka Mission programme. Further he requested to create awareness on preparation of good quality of compost and FYM. Regarding fertilizer availability at present there is a stock of 23,000 MT and no scarcity specially Urea. He expressed concerned over non entry of day to day fertilizer sale through POS machine by some fertilizer dealers. All the fertilizer sale should be entered online.
PD, Watershed Shri Prasanna Kumar Patra, highlighted various project of the department with special focus on innovative agro-forestry project for food and nutritional security.
DDH, Sundargarh Shri Sukanata Kumar Naik informed about various Govt. scheme of the department. He stressed that Apple Ber and Strawberry should be promoted in the district. He mentioned that there is no established nursery on grafted vegetables (Brinjal, Tomato and Capsicum) in the district. He requested KVK to develop entrepreneur on grafted vegetable nursery specially from OMBADC sponsored trainees.
BVO, Bargaon (representative of CDVO) Dr. Susanata Kumar Naik informed that there was 25% reduction in cattle population in the district. For better utilization of cow dung he suggested flexi bio-gas plants which can produce 14.5 KG gas from 450 Kg cow dung per cow per month and later the bio-gas slurry can be used for vermicompost. He highlighted Mukhya Mantri Kamadhenu Yojana for dairy farmers and formation of milk society with assistance of DMF. Entrepreneurs should be developed in the district under fodder entrepreneurship development programme. He also suggested live fencing with fodder.
DDM, NABARD Shrei Tapas Kumat Behera highlighted JIVA project undertaken by NABARD in collaboration with SGUP, Lahunipada in Bonai block. He informed that Gir Gojatan Sansthan, Bundel, Gujurat provided bio digester for preparation of advanced Jivamrit at Bijaghat (near Khandadhar waterfall), Lahunipada and those bio digester will be very much useful for natural farming in the district. DDM, NABARD is requested to plan a joint field with line department officials to the bio digester unit at Bijaghat.
CEO, Jan Vikash FPCL, Shri Rajeev Kulllu, seeked information about schemes on piggery. He advised to contact BVO, Kutra for detailed information. CEO, Chhedlagan FPCL, Shri Gangadhar Kisan has been applauded by the members both for achieving 6.6 Cr. Turnover. He informed that this FPCL will soon start a new project of value chain of mushroom and requested for support from KVK and Horticulture department. Programme Manager, Samajik Seva Sadan, Shri Prafulla Naik requested KVK to include Manager, RMC, Sundargarh in RE Linkage group.
